Hello,

One of the most important parameters in SEO is the ALT value. I would like to know how to do add alt to the images?

Thanks

María

What images would you like to add ALT tag to? Photos uploaded by members? Would they do that manually?

I believe a suggestion at oxwall.uservoice.com would help you getting what you want if other community members are interested in this feature.

How do you see the option for adding ALT tags for images? For every uploaded image by a member? Would members add those tags or site admin?

The photo description that the user adds should be used in the alt tag. The description should have the ability to be toggled between required or not. As of right now I have 87 user photos shown on my index page with no alt tags.

Makes good sense to me, besides the alt tag is required to meet W3C validation anyway.   Im surprised its not already developed with that in mind.

Suggestion was posted here http://oxwall.uservoice.com/...tter-user-experience .

It is worth posting another smaller one though, one that will deal only with adding Alt tags for images.

Site admin or member should have access for this, or create a plugin that can auto add even if just site title for an alt tag..

<div class="ow_avatar">
<a href="http://site.net/user/USER001">
<img alt="some_text" title="USER001" src="http://site.net/...ar_17_1370341337.jpg">
</a>

<div class="ow_lp_photos ow_center" id="photo-widget-latest">
<a class="ow_lp_wrapper" rel="179" href="http://site.net/photo/view/179">
<img src="http://site.net/...hoto_preview_179.jpg" alt="some_text">
</a>

<a href="javascript://" onclick="OW.showImageInFloatBox('http://site.net/...chments/attach_1.png');">
<img src="http://site.net/...chments/attach_1.png" alt="some_text" class="attachment_thumb from_fullsize_photo">

Actually isn't  title more imporant and more usefull than alt,   i was thinking just having alt as alt=''  to meet W3C requirements and then adding the title attribute as a plugin or some other dynamic process thru Oxwall update at some point.   I just think title is more important and a more usefull attribute.

Actually it will be the best to have both of them (alt and title).  The more you would explain you content (image) to search engines, the better it is. However, Google gives much more importance to the image alt tags while indexing an image from a link

i made an image for what it could look like .... just some ideas.

personally i have it in wrong order it should be

1. title

2. description

3. ALT text

4. Tags

5. Album.

Im sure you get the idea though.

You could also have it so title and ALT tag only show if user clicks Advanced options then if they click that advanced options link ALT and Title fields are revealed, though not all that important just will look nicer i guess. would be good if these options are not a required field too, some people unsure of the internet and SEO might have no idea on what these are for , also why i suggested an advanced options... link that once clicked reveals the title and Alt fields.

hi guys alt tage on every image on site is important
alt tags are mainly for screen readers for blind people

install a screen reader, turn your monitor off  and try to navigate through your oxwall powered site and you will soon learn just how important alt tags  are

over ten years ago google made a huge fuss over this and said point blank your site must comply with screen readers, IF ID DOES NOT GOOGLE WILL PENALIZE YOUR SITE

 and they do by lots and lots  they put your site way back in search results

yeah sad to say oxwall SEO wise is so far off the mark it's the only problem i would bother to piss and moan about. i've been tossing up swapping to wordpress cause i know i could get page 1 in a week for the same content im ranking on page 4 for right now. it's super frustrating. seems people want oxwall to add tons of crap that wont help their website. SEO is gold and should be the no 1 thing oxwall should concentrate on.

it's great having plugins but they make your site slow.

oxwall is lacking in many ways but it is getting better slowly

and i have been try to push developers to make better seo plugins

if enough people push them it will get done
even if alt tags simply say (photo of {yousername} )

that can be edited in language
first thing you need to do is put h1 title on index well not yoursite.com/index on yoursite.com
if you come up with any more easy fixes let me know

right now i am struggle with getting https working on site so many broken images
i am going post a new forum on it shortly
