Added links through editor add randomly https and/or http or nothing | Forum

Hi there,

today we moved our site to the main domain, which means, that we also changed the url in config.php to https, as we are using ssl.

After the change something weired happens on the editor. I just created an article on the article-plugin and added a few links within the editor via the small icon.

All the URLs have been added with normal ht tp:// and no ht tps://. After I submitted the article some of the urls habe ht tp://, some ht tps:// and some have just www in front of the domain name.

I double checked everything and added each url again. But the same happened again. The weired thing is, that it changes the prefix randomly. Each time I edit and submit the article again, it changes the prefix on another link.

This somethimes results in an error, as not every site is using a https protocol.

Any ideas where this might come from?

You can find the article here: yucom.de

Sorry that it is german, but I guess the links are clear to read. As I said - All the links have been added with normal ht tp:// - I would anderstand it, if it adds ht tps:// to alle the links, but that random changing is just weird.

Edit: Sorry, I had to add a dash to all the ht tps, so they're not getting recognized.

Well, it is no solution to us, to turn off SSL. It is not only more secure, but it is also better for the Google ranking, as we learned from Google itself - googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.de. It would be strange, if a software like Oxwall wasn't able to run on HTTPS.

I am not sure where the problem is coming from. I guess it is something with the editor. Our devs tryed to look into it, but the editor oxwall uses, jHtmlArea, is such a strange thing. Not sure why they chose this one over standards like TinyMCE or CKEditor, or many others. There are so many better WYSIWYG editors out there. Also small ones, with little bandwidth and enough functionality.

Anyway - That's not the topic. I just don't get, what the editor is doing there.

Lars, can you please do some testing. Insert the links in some forum or blog post. Does the issue occur there as well?

Hey Ross,

thanks for the reply and sorry for my late reply. Was very busy the last couple of days.

Well, you are right. It looks like, that the described problem only appears on the article-plugin-pages. So I guess it's a problem of that plugin, right?

I'll try to contact the plugin dev.

Do you have any clue, just curious, what the problem might come from? For me it is such a strange behavior. Never saw something like this before to be honest.

Yes, you need to contact plugin developer. As to the issue origin, well, I guess it has something to do with the SSL
