}Looks like you are setting the background color on the .ow_menu_wrap. You need to set it on the .ow_site_panel. See below.
.ow_site_panel {
background-color: your color ;
}

Looks like you are using the Simplicity theme. There is a setting in the theme customization to change the menu text color without having to make a css change. If this doesn't make the change you are looking for, provide a screenshot.
